Inp.polri.go.id - London. President Prabowo Subianto met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street on Tuesday (20/1/2026) to solidify a strategic partnership focusing on Indonesia’s blue economy and higher education.
A cornerstone of the visit is a collaboration with British shipbuilder Babcock to procure 1,000 fishing vessels for Indonesian fishermen.
"I believe this maritime cooperation will be vital and strategic for Indonesia’s maritime economic development," President Prabowo said, following productive talks with Babcock’s leadership and representatives from the prestigious Russell Group.
Prime Minister Starmer lauded the rapid growth of bilateral relations, noting significant progress since their initial 2024 meeting. The high-level delegation, including ministers for investment and fisheries, aims to finalize maritime agreements signed during the G20.
By engaging British academic and industrial expertise, Indonesia seeks to modernize its fishing fleet and enhance national human capital through specialized university partnerships.
