Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   The government is launching a high-speed internet initiative to provide up to 100 Mbps fixed broadband access to underserved “blank spot” areas, including schools, clinics, and village offices lacking fiber optic connectivity.

“This initiative fulfills President Prabowo Subianto’s mandate to accelerate digital equity. Digital access is key to advancing the people’s economy,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid on Saturday (14/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Under the program, the government will allocate new spectrum bands transparently to fixed network providers. An open-access model will require license holders to share infrastructure with other telecom operators, enabling broader coverage.

According to ministry data, 86% of schools (190,000 units) and 75% of health centers remain disconnected, while 32,000 village offices fall within blank zones. Household fixed broadband penetration stands at only 21.31%.

The selection process for providers will begin this year, guided by transparent regulations and industry consultations, aiming to deliver affordable, high-speed internet nationwide.
