An earthquake hit Afghanistan on Wednesday (22/06/22) morning local time. Reuters reported the magnitude of the quake was 6.1 but other sources said it was 5.9. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) noted the quake was about 44 kilometers from Khorst, a town near the Pakistan border, and had a depth of 51 km. As a result of this disaster, at least 1,000 people were dead. The Head of the Information and Culture Department of Taliban, Mohammad Amin Huzaifa, said the number of victims would likely continue to rise.
