Inp.polri.go.id - Indramayu. The Indramayu Regional Police reiterated the strict ban on using pickup trucks and open cargo vehicles to transport passengers on Thursday (16/7/2026), following a tragic traffic accident that killed 12 people on the North Coast (Pantura) highway.

The enforcement follows a fatal collision on Sunday in Lohbener District involving a pickup truck and two trucks. The police emphasized that goods vehicles lack standard safety features such as roofs and seatbelts, violating Article 137 of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation.

"The lack of protective roofs and seatbelts in the back makes passengers highly vulnerable during severe impacts," said Indramayu Police Community Development Unit Head, First Inspector Tasim.

He urged the public to prioritize road safety over convenience, warning that violators will face ticketing sanctions. All local police offices have been instructed to intensify humanistic public education to prevent similar tragedies.
