inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have confirmed that they will take firm action against members who are not neutral during the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Election process. This has been the police's commitment before the Constitutional Court (MK) lawsuit Number 136/PUU-XXII/2024 was decided regarding criminal sanctions for security officers and regional officials who are not neutral.

“If there are police forces who violate this regulations, we will act firmly according to the law,” says the Head of Public Information Bureau of INP, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko on Monday (11/18/2024).

According to him, the INP Chief has firmly instructed his members to maintain professionalism in realizing democracy and nurturing the conducive state and social life. INP also committed to being neutral and not carrying out practical political activities in every stage of the 2024 Regional Head Election.

He detailed that the neutrality of the police force is regulated in Article 28 Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning INP which states that INP members cannot use their right to vote and be elected, as well as a circular via secret telegram (TR) that has been sent to the ranks.

"To act neutrally and not side with one of the candidates in the election, presidential election or regional election," he noted.
