Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Indonesian National Police (INP) arrested Interpol Red Notice fugitive Rifaldo Aquino Pontoh at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday, following a coordinated tracking effort with Interpol Manila.
Rifaldo is accused of spearheading an international human trafficking and online scam syndicate based in Cambodia that targeted Indonesian citizens with fraudulent high-paying job advertisements.
"The suspect orchestrated a scheme that lured victims via social media before subjecting them to physical abuse, passport seizure, and wage theft," said Senior Superintendent Ricky Purnama, the Head of the INP’s International Relations Division’s Transnational Crimes Unit, on Sunday (22/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The arrest occurred after authorities tracked the suspect’s flight path from Cambodia through the Philippines to Bali. Victims of the syndicate were reportedly extorted for exorbitant sums under the guise of resignation fees to return home.
Rifaldo remains in custody as investigators work to uncover the remaining branches of his transnational criminal network.
