inp.polri.go.id - West Nusa Tenggara. The Indonesian National Police (INP) broke the Indonesian Museum Record (MURI) for the “Largest Simultaneous Garlic Plantation”.

The record was awarded to the INP after they sowed garlic seedlings simultaneously at 14 Regional Police with the total lands of 279.53 hectares.

The simultaneous plantation was led by the INP Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday (8/19/2026).

Chief Sigit emphasized that the MURI achievement also serves as a momentum to solidify joint movement in improving national garlic production.

The INP Chief stated that 90 to 95 percent of Indonesia's garlic is imported. He stated that achieving national garlic self-sufficiency is a challenge.

"Our production is around 39,000-40,000 tons, while our demand is 600,000 tons per year. This is a challenge for all of us," said Sigit.

Sigit emphasized that they are committed to supporting President Prabowo Subianto's target of achieving garlic self-sufficiency within the next three years. He stated that this will be achieved through collaboration with ministries/institutions, regional governments, farmer groups, and various strategic partners.

In breaking the record for the simultaneous planting, 110 farmer groups, comprising 2,174 members, were involved in cultivating 279.53 hectares of land. This planting has a potential production of approximately 2,795 tons of garlic.

In addition to the simultaneous planting, the INP Chief also participated in a large-scale garlic harvest on 105 hectares of land involving nine farmer groups with 287 farmers in Sembalun. This harvest has a potential yield of 1,050 tons of garlic.

Strengthening upstream production was also supported by the distribution of various agricultural tools and machinery, as well as production inputs, to farmer groups. This assistance included 90 hand tractors, one four-wheeled tractor, 24 water pumps, and 17 tons of Phonska Nitroku fertilizer, all from the National Police, the Ministry of Agriculture, and PT Pupuk Indonesia.
