Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Narcotics Crime Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has raided a liquid methamphetamine laboratory linked to two Chinese nationals at the Bandara City Tower Apartments in Tangerang, Banten.
Deputy Head of the INP Criminal Investigation Agency Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, announced on Friday (17/11/2023) that five suspects had been arrested, three of whom were already on the wanted list. The two suspects were identified as X and J.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 20.8 kg of ketamine, 20.7 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 17 litres of liquid meth from the clandestine laboratory.
The investigation gained momentum in late October 2023 when the Agency received information about a ketamine shipment from Batam to Jakarta. Working with customs at Soekarno Hatta International Airport and a shipping company, authorities traced the shipment, leading to a crucial breakthrough.
"The arrest took place when the suspects tried to retrieve the shipment. It was then discovered that the ketamine was being produced in one of the apartments in Tangerang, Banten," General Asep said.
The suspects will be charged under Article 114 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1), Subsidiary of Article 113 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1), Further Subsidiary of Article 112 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics of the Republic of Indonesia. The articles carries a maximum penalty of death.
