inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto met with the leadership of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) at the MUI Central Office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/13/2026).
The meeting served as a momentum to strengthen synergy between INP and religious scholars in maintaining security, harmony, and supporting national progress.
During the meeting, MUI Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar emphasized the importance of collaboration between religious scholars and the police.
He stated that security, welfare, and faith are interconnected elements in community life. A safe and stable situation allows people to practice their religion, pursue knowledge, educate the younger generation, and earn a living.
Chief Suyudi stated that maintaining public order and security is the responsibility of the police. However, its implementation requires the support and cooperation of all elements of society, including the MUI and religious scholars.
"We recognize that maintaining public order and security is our responsibility. However, we, the police, cannot work alone without the support of all elements of society, especially the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Therefore, collaboration needs to be continuously strengthened to jointly maintain security, order, and harmony within the community," said Suyudi, Tuesday (10/13/2026).
On that occasion, Anwar explained the role of the MUI as a protector of the community through the Himayatul Ummah mission and as a strategic partner of the government through shodiqul hukumah (Islamic teachings).
He also encouraged strengthening cooperation between the police and Islamic boarding schools, including opening opportunities for male and female students to serve as members of the police.
Anwar also expressed his hope that the leadership of Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto in INP will bring calm in law enforcement and bring benefits to the community. He believes a close relationship between the Islamic scholars and the police is necessary to support a safe and harmonious national life.
