Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed his staff for rapid dissemination of traffic engineering information during the return traffic after the annual exodus during the 2023 Eid holiday known as arus balik.

"Of course, we will disseminate the information quickly should there be changes to the one-way traffic schedule that has been announced," he said during a joint coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for PMK and the Minister of Transportation via virtual connection, Jakarta, Sunday (23/423).

Traffic engineering policies implemented during the arus balik include one-way traffic and contraflow to apply odd and even plate numbers of cars that may use certain roads.

The INP Chief said that the traffic engineering information must be disseminated quickly due to the possibility of extending the one-way policy based on the vehicle volume passing the roads.

One-way policy during the arus balik is scheduled to start from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate KM 414 to the Cikampek Utama Toll Road  KM 70, which will likely be extended from KM 36 to KM 3 + 500.

Given the possibility, the INP chief underlined the importance of rapid and precise dissemination of traffic engineering information to the public.

"Users should be informed earlier so that (they can) adjust to the traffic engineering schedule. And of course, the dissemination will be done through television, radio, and other media to enable the public to keep up with changes in traffic engineering that we make," said the general.

In addition to the traffic engineering policy on toll roads, he emphasized that the police must also anticipate the situation of the arus balik on main roads to ease traffic congestion.

"We have cleared disturbances that hinder the arterial route and analyzed potential points prone to traffic jams and accident-prone. We have deployed many police and joint personnel to ensure smooth traffic on the toll and main roads," he said.
