Inp.polri.go.id - Auckland. General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, was granted the He For She Award by the International Association of Woman Police (IAWP). The award was received by INP Internatonal Relations Division Head Inspector General Krishna Murti on his behalf during a conference marking IAWP's 60th anniversary in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday (17/9/23)
The INP Public Relations Division Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, said that the award was bestowed to the INP Chief in recognition of his strong commitment in enhancing the role of female police officers, better known as Polwan, through the improvement of their competencies and capabilities, making Polwan a valuable asset to the INP.
"The award for the INP Chief has been acknowledged by IAWP President Deborah Fridle as recognition of the empowerment of Polwan in Indonesia, both through the policies formulated and their implementation at the national level," he said in a statement as reported by antaranews.com.
The IAWP President believes that the consistency in the implementation of General Sigit's policies is the key to success in making Polwan a main actor in policing in Indonesia, said the chief spokesperson.
"In line with the INP Chief's commitment, gender mainstreaming within the police force will continue to improve, with the issuance of regulations by the INP Chief and the ongoing development of a grand strategy," he said
The IAWP conference was attended by 700 participants and 60 delegations from various countries. During the conference, the awards were presented to outstanding female police officer as well as to male police officers ,who have made significant contributions to the empowerment of the female police officers. IAWP regularly holds annual conferences to build networks and enhance the capabilities of female police officers through discussions and the exchange of ideas among participants from different countries.
