Investigators from the Indonesian National Police (INP) Anti-Corruption Corps conducted a search related to the investigation into alleged corruption in the Asembagus Sugar Factory development and modernization project in Situbondo, owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara XI (PTPN XI) for the 2016–2022 period. The search was conducted as part of an effort to gather additional evidence to strengthen the evidence in the case.
The Head of INP Anti-Corruption Corps Investigation Team, Senior Superintendent Gunawan, explained that the search was part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the strategic project.
"Our activity today was to conduct a search related to the investigation conducted by our investigators into alleged corruption in the Asembagus Sugar Factory development and modernization project in Situbondo, at PTPN XI for the 2016–2022 period," said Gunawan.
In this case, investigators revealed that the state is suspected of experiencing significant losses. Based on an audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the estimated state financial losses reached more than IDR 645 billion.
Gunawan explained that the project was implemented by a Joint Operation involving PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA), PT Barata Indonesia, and PT Multinas Sejahtera Indonesia. In addition to conducting a search at WIKA's offices, investigators also simultaneously conducted searches at several locations in East Java related to PT Barata Indonesia and PT Multinas Sejahtera Indonesia.
"The implementers of this project are the Joint Operation (KSO) of PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA), PT Barata Indonesia, and PT Multinas Sejahtera Indonesia. Today, we are also conducting similar searches in East Java related to PT Barata Indonesia and PT Multinas Sejahtera Indonesia," he said.
According to him, the searches were conducted to obtain additional evidence that will be analyzed and further investigated as part of the investigation.
He added that investigators are also preparing steps to determine who will be held criminally accountable based on the evidence gathered. Meanwhile, investigators are striving to expedite the resolution of the case to ensure legal certainty, justice, and public benefit.
