Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Criminal Investigation Agency intercepted a major distribution ring attempting to circulate 9 tons of expired frozen imported meat into traditional markets.

"We have taken enforcement action against an individual distributing expired frozen meat to traditional markets ahead of the Eid celebrations," said Senior Superintendent Teuku Arsya Khadafi in a written statement on Sunday (8/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

During a targeted raid, the Mobile Research Unit of the Criminal Investigation Agency impounded three trucks transporting the hazardous goods intended for public consumption during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr festivities. Authorities launched the operation as part of a nationwide food safety task force monitoring price stability and product quality during major religious holidays.

Suspects and evidence have been detained at police headquarters for further interrogation to uncover wider distribution networks. The task force continues to intensify surveillance across supply chains to prevent substandard food from reaching consumers.
