Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has instructed all personnel to intensify their duties during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year security operation, citing the growing risk of extreme weather across Indonesia.
INP Deputy Chief of Operations Commissioner General Fadil Imran said on Friday (19/12/2025) that weather forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency indicate potential heavy rain and strong winds.
“This situation demands a higher level of preparedness, meaning this year’s Christmas and New Year public service must be carried out with extra effort compared to previous years,” he said during the Operation Lilin 2025 roll-call, as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Fadil noted that peak rainy season conditions between November 2025 and February 2026 increase the risk of floods and landslides, particularly along main roads, alternative routes, and access to vital facilities. Integrated security posts equipped with search and rescue tools have been ordered on vulnerable routes.
The police also anticipate high public mobility, with an estimated 119.5 million people traveling nationwide during the holiday period.
