Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Security Maintenance Agency’s Chief Commissioner General Karyoto has proposed on Tuesday (16/12/2025) activating the Integrated Joint Task Force (Kogasgabpad) to strengthen disaster response across several affected areas in Sumatra and Aceh, citing the scale and cross-regional impact of the disasters.
“In large-scale, cross-regional disasters, the state must ensure all resources move under a clear and unified command system,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
The proposal was conveyed as flooding and related disasters continued to affect multiple provinces. While local administrations, volunteers, the military, and police have been working on the ground, Chief Karyoto said a more integrated mechanism is needed to accelerate access opening, logistics distribution, security, and coordination.
He explained that the Task Force has been used in past major crises, including the 2018 Lombok earthquake, the Palu tsunami, and the COVID-19 response. The task force would not replace existing authorities but align roles under a single command to prioritize public safety and effective aid delivery.
