inp.polri.go.id - Maluku. The Maluku Regional Police have stepped in to assist the West Seram Sub-regional Police in investigating clashes involving denizens of Lisabata Village and Patahuwe Village, Taniwel District.
The Maluku Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate is conducting an investigation to identify those suspected of involvement in the series of clashes.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Maluku Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Dasmin Ginting, assured that the investigation was based on facts and evidence found in the field.
"The West Seram Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit is currently working to identify the perpetrators in this conflict. We are working based on facts and evidence found in the field," Dasmin said in Ambon, Saturday (9/12/2026).
He emphasized that the Maluku Regional Police will support the investigation process to ensure it is carried out professionally and objectively, and not based on unproven allegations.
"The Maluku Regional Police are providing support to the West Seram Sub-regional Police in the investigation process. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation is directly involved to ensure that the handling is carried out professionally and based on facts and evidence," he said.
Any alleged criminal acts found in the series of clashes, Dasmin said, will be processed according to applicable legal provisions.
"We do not want the law enforcement process to be based on opinions or unverified information. Everything will be investigated based on facts on the ground, statements obtained, and evidence found by investigators," he said.
To support the investigation process, the police have set up police lines at several locations related to the clashes. These locations are still being examined to gather evidence and information needed by investigators.
The investigation is being conducted to obtain a complete picture of the chronology of events, identify the parties involved, and gather evidence to support the legal process.
Cleaning up the debris of the burned and collapsed buildings will begin after all stages of the investigation at the scene are complete.
Dasmin also reminded the public not to take action or spread accusations against certain parties before the investigation has established sufficient facts.

Previously, a clash between denizens of Patahuwe Village and Lisabata Village occurred on Friday (9/11/2026). The incident began after a land fire that then escalated into tensions between the people of the two villages.
According to initial police reports, 27 houses and one motorcycle were burned. In addition, four people were reportedly injured by air rifles.
To prevent further clashes, the police, along with the military, have established security in the area.
As of Saturday (9/12/2026), the security situation in the Taniwel area is reported to be safe and under control. Meanwhile, the police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full sequence of events and identify those responsible.
