Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A joint task force from the Damai Cartenz Task Force and the Yahukimo SUb-regional Police launched an investigation to track down an unidentified assailant who severely assaulted a 40-year-old man in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Thursday evening.

The victim, identified as Adit, suffered slash wounds to his neck during a power outage at his residence in Kali Bonto and was immediately evacuated to Dekai Regional Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

"The victim is conscious, and his condition is improving following medical care," said thei Damai Cartenz Task Force Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo on Saturday (22/8/2026). "Our joint team responded immediately to gather evidence and witness statements."

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect may be linked to the Yahukimo insurgent group led by Kombi Yemberengge. 

The Damai Cartenz Task Force Chief Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani confirmed that police forces are pursuing all leads to identify and capture the perpetrator.
