Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A joint team from the Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force and the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police is investigating a shooting incident targeting a civilian in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB), on Thursday (30/4/2026).

According to Superintendent Adria, the Deputy Head of Public Relations for the Damai Cartenz Task Force, the victim, identified as S (54), was targeted while opening his business at the Block A shophouse complex. 

Two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle approached the victim, and one of them fired a makeshift firearm once.

"The shot did not hit the victim but damaged the speedometer of the victim's motorcycle," Chief Adria explained, as reported by antaranews.com. 

Following the report, security forces immediately conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) and collected evidence.

This incident came after a string of violent attacks by a KKB group in the region. Earlier this week,one civilian was shot on Monday, while two otheres sustained gunshot wounds on Tuesday. Authorities have intensified patrols and sweeps across Dekai to prevent further security disturbances.
