The body was found around Simpang Kalumpang Bridge on Wednesday (4/16/2025).

The victim is Muhamad Erlangga (11), an elementary school student. He was unfortunately found dead.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday (4/15/2025) when Erlangga and his two friends were taking a bath in the river. During the bath, Erlangga was drowning due to his incapability of swimming. One of his friends was trying to reach his hand but unsuccessful, dragging Erlangga along the river.

His friends immediately ran to the village to seek help and told Erlangga’s family of the situation.

The search process was carried out along the river, using boats to speed up the search. The hard work of the officers finally paid off when the victim was found approximately 100 meters from the initial location of the drowning, stuck between rocks at the bottom of the river.

The victim was then immediately taken to the Bhyangkara Hospital of the West Sumatra Regional Police before finally the family received the victim's body to be taken to the funeral home and buried.
