inp.polri.go.id – The National Police Chief General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo departed the last batch of Free Homecoming participants at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) East Parking in Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (29/4/22). This program has used 220 buses with 11,300 passengers and departed to West Java, Central Java, DIY and East Java. "We just departed the last batch of this free homecoming. On average this free homecoming has been participated by people ranging from street vendors, barbers, ASN, students, laborers and other professions," stated Kapolri. He adds that the free homecoming program had two main objectives. The first is to help people who want to return to their hometowns. Then secondly, to reduce the number of people using private vehicles in their trip to their hometowns. "Because we predict there will be a significant increase in this year after being prohibited for two years," explained Kapolri. From his observations in the field, Kapolri said that there was indeed an increase in vehicles. For this reason, several traffic engineering efforts have been carried out starting from contraflow to One-Way. "Last night we switched the contraflow system with a one-way system. One-way system was carried out from 17.00 to 24.00 WIB. However, because it was really busy, we extend the system until before dawn," he explained. General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that currently contraflow is starting from KM 47 and one-way starting from KM 60. This is done so that the flow from East Java, Central Java, and West Java to DKI Jakarta to the Sumatra region can move. "Our engineering efforts will continue to be monitored so that we can solve traffic jams properly," explained Kapolri. Kapolri also reminds people to also use other modes of transportation such as trains, ships, and planes to reduce the road load and avoid congestion. In addition, Kapolri also asked people to continue in maintaining health protocols, and complete vaccinations up to booster. According to him, the positivity rate has been well maintained with the rate of 0.58. The daily figure is around 300-600 people and he urges this number to be maintained.
