The Chairman of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) of Mimika Regency, Rafael Taorekeyau, expressed his appreciation to the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operations Police Task Force and local police officers for their swift response in evacuating the rescued hostages in Mimika Regency, Central Papua.
Rafael expressed his appreciation in Timika on Tuesday (9/15/2026). He assessed that the presence and alertness of security officers during the evacuation demonstrated their commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining a conducive security situation.
"I express my gratitude and appreciation to the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operations Police Task Force and local police officers for their presence and responsiveness in maintaining security, particularly during the hostage evacuation process. The security forces' swift response provides a sense of security for the community and demonstrates their commitment to protecting civilians from violence and crime," said Rafael.
According to Rafael, these security and evacuation efforts must continue to be carried out professionally, measuredly, and in accordance with legal provisions. He also hopes that the perpetrators involved in these crimes will be promptly arrested and prosecuted according to applicable law.
Rafael then appealed to the Papuan people, especially those in Mimika Regency, to remain calm and not be easily provoked by rumors or information whose sources and veracity are uncertain.
"I urge all Papuans, especially those in Mimika Regency, not to be easily provoked by information whose veracity is uncertain. Let us be wise in receiving, sorting, and disseminating information. Do not give space to information that can trigger unrest and disrupt security within the community," he said.
He invited all elements of society to work together to maintain security, respect each other, and create a safe and conducive atmosphere in the Land of Papua.
