Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Lampung Regional Police urged residents to remain calm following viral social media claims of a “pocong terror” in the province. Authorities stressed that the rumors are unverified and patrols have been increased to ensure public safety.

“People should not worry about these issues. Police continue to secure and monitor the situation,” said Senior Superintendent Yuni Iswandari Yuyun, the Head of Public Relations at the Lampung Police on Friday (29/5/2026)..

The pocong is a ghost figure in Indonesian folklore, depicted as a corpse wrapped in a burial shroud. 

Chief Yuni warned that spreading unverified information risks creating panic and disrupting public order. Locals were advised to report suspicious activity directly to police rather than sharing rumors online.

Lampung Police have strengthened night patrols and community monitoring, particularly in residential areas, to prevent exploitation of the rumors by criminal elements. Authorities also encouraged residents to revive neighborhood watch activities to enhance security.
