Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Lampung Regional Police) ordered all personnel on Friday, (15/5/2026) to shoot violent robbers and vehicle thieves on sight to combat rising crime in the province, responding to growing public anxiety following a recent armed robbery in which a police officer was shot.

"There is no tolerance for robbers. I have ordered a shoot-on-sight policy for them," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helfi Assegaf at the regional police headquarter, as cited by antaranews.com.

He added that the firm, measured action is necessary because most perpetrators commit these crimes to fund illegal drug habits rather than basic survival.

The order came after the 9 May 2026 shooting of Senior Brigadier Arya Supena by two vehicle thieves. In addition to enforcement, Chief Helfi urged the public to enhance vehicle security by using double locks and parking in well-monitored, crowded locations.
