Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas assured that concerns over the revival of the Indonesian military's dual function in the draft amendment to Law No. 34/2004 on the Indonesian Military (TNI) are unfounded.
Following a hearing with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (19/3/2025), he emphasized that the bill upholds civilian supremacy by limiting active-duty military personnel to only 14 government institutions.
"If they want positions outside these 14 ministries or agencies, they must retire first. That’s the essence of civilian supremacy," he asserted, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns through further dialogue, affirming that the bill does not signal a return to the era of military dual function.
