Inp.polri.go.id - Madiun.   The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Madiun Sub-Regional Police in East Java has arrested a legislataive  candidate in connection with a series of burglaries at numerous shops and residences in the area. Superintendent Magribi Agung Saputra, the Head of the Madiun Police Criminal Investigation Unit, revealed that the suspect, identified as ADK (25), a Madiun resident, is a legislative candidate running for the Madiun Legislative Council (DPRD), antaranews.com reported. "ADK was arrested at his home on Thursday night. In addition to ADK, we also arrested another suspect, Basir, a resident of Jombang, from his rented room near ADK's house," he said. The third suspect, TB, remains at large, prompting an ongoing manhunt. Upon his arrest, Basir, a repeat offender involved in a violent robbery case in 2017, attempted to flee, prompting police to shooti\ him in the leg. Chief Magribi explained that the actions of the two suspects came to light through CCTV footage installed at a shop owned by the victim, Agung Tri Pratama,who suffered a loss of Rp 40 million. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to committing thefts at 18 shops and vacant houses in various locations, including Madiun, Ngawi, Magetan, Ponorogo and Nganjuk, starting as early as 2019. ADK played the role of a driver, transporting another Basir during their criminal activities.  Police have confiscated the suspects' vehicle and various pieces of evidence. The two arrested suspects now face charges under Article 363 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
