Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck the southeast of Oksibil, Highland Papua, on Thursday morning (29/10//2026), according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"#Gempa Info Gempa Mag:6.1, 29-Okt-26 10:26:49 WIB, Lok: 5.45 LS - 141.90 BT (153 km Tenggara OKSIBIL-PAPUAPGNGN), Kedlmn: 120 km #BMKG," BMKG announced on its official X account.

The tremor occurred at 10.26 am at coordinates 5.45 South Latitude and 141.90 East Longitude, centered approximately 153 kilometers southeast of Oksibil at a depth of 120 kilometers. 

BMKG noted that initial real-time data prioritizing processing speed remains preliminary and subject to updates as further technical details arrive.
