Inp.polri.go.id - East Lombok. A Malaysian climber, identified as Chye Connsynn (41), was evacuated by helicopter after sustaining injuries during a trek on Mount Rinjani, East Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, on Tuesday (16/5/2026).

Astekita Ardiaristo, the Head of Administration at the Rinjani National Park Authority (TNGR), said that the evacuation was carried out under premium insurance coverage. Clear weather allowed the rescue team to proceed swiftly. 

The climber was transferred to a stretcher and airlifted from Pelawangan 2 to Sembalun, before being flown to a referral hospital in Denpasar, Bali, according to antaranews.com.

The incident occurred on Monday when thick fog initially forced the helicopter to abort attempts. Ground teams provided medical assistance until conditions improved for the air evacuation.
