Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Kelapa Gading Police Office in North Jakarta arrested a man for allegedly shooting and killing a pet cat using an air rifle at Jalan Molek, East Kelapa Gading that went viral on social media.
“We acted after the case gained attention online and conducted a swift investigation,” said Kelapa Gading Police Chief Senior Inspector Seto Handoko Putra on Wednesday (22/1/2025).
Officers arrested the suspect, identified as DD (45), at his residence on Wednesday afternoon and confiscated an air rifle along with 56 pellets as evidence.
DD is being investigated under Article 302 of the Criminal Code for animal cruelty, which carries a maximum sentence of nine months in prison, and Article 406 for property destruction, punishable by up to 2 years and 8 months.
The owner of the cat, a woman identified M, has been summoned for a testimony.
