inp.polri.go.id - Bangka Belitung. The Bangka Belitung Regional Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate successfully uncovered a narcotics trafficking case by arresting a man identified as RM, also known as Obi, on Tuesday (4/21/2026).

The suspect was apprehended at his residence in Kepala Tujuh Village, Gerunggang District, Pangkalpinang, after officers received a public report regarding alleged methamphetamine possession.

The Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation for the Bangka Belitung Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ronald Sipayung, explained that the police team immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the information. 

"After approximately one hour of investigation, officers identified the suspect, followed him to his home, and then apprehended him," said Ronald on Wednesday (4/22/2026).

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search witnessed by the local neighborhood head. The investigation revealed five packages suspected to be methamphetamine, consisting of two medium-sized packages and three small packages, inside the suspect's black bag. Police confirmed that all the evidence is in the suspect's possession.

Ronald added that the total gross weight of the seized methamphetamine reached 2,068 grams, or 2.068 kilograms. 

"The suspect and the evidence are currently being held at the Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation," he explained. 

The suspect is being charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, in conjunction with Article 609 Paragraph (2) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2026, which carries a penalty of 5 to 20 years in prison.
