Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi strongly emphasized that Indonesia remains consistent to be the front-liners in supporting the Palestine.
Minister Retno says that 2023 has become the worst year for Palestine with more than 21,000 people lost their lives due to the Israel aggression.
Moreover, various public facilities were also destroyed and left unfunctional including Indonesia Hospital in North Gaza.
“The case in Palestine exposed the double standard of various countries around the world, particularly in the Global North,” says Minister Retno on Monday (1/8/2024).
Her statement highlights her critique to the Global North countries who often scolds other countries regarding human rights which then suddenly stood silent as Israel attempt to genocide the Palestinians.
“Where is your ‘lectures’ that you often spoke about regarding the human rights? Are Palestinians does not have the same rights as we do? Why it seems like you saw Palestinians as someone who is beneath you?” calls Retno.
Furthermore, she highlights the incapabilities of UN Security Council in stopping the Gaza genocide for their failure in designing resolution of cease-fire.
Witnessing how the world leaders reacts to Palestinian massacre, Minister Retno calls that Indonesia remains strongly committed to support Palestine, including through International Court of Justice.
“Indonesia chose to stand with the right side of history, to stand with the humanity and justice for Palestine,” says Retno in her strong conclusion statement.
