Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs Yusril Ihza Mahendra issued a stern warning to law enforcement agencies on Saturday (7/3/2026), emphasizing the need for extreme caution before making arrests or filing charges.

The statement responded to the acquittal of Lokataru Foundation Executive Director Delpedro Marhaen and three fellow activists, who were cleared of incitement charges related to the August 2025 protests, according to antaranws.com.

"Law enforcement must be carried out with certainty and fairness," Minister Yusril asserted, noting that the state is obligated to rehabilitate and compensate those wrongfully prosecuted if evidence is insufficient.

The Central Jakarta District Court ruled that prosecutors failed to prove the defendants manipulated facts or incited violence via social media. Previously facing two-year prison demands for allegedly encouraging minors to join riots, the activists successfully defended their actions in court.

Minister Yusril highlighted this case as a vital lesson in upholding the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), urging authorities to ensure rock-solid preliminary evidence before pursuing high-profile indictments that risk violating civil liberties.
