The Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Sub-regional Police have successfully solved a shooting case that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old teenager in Margo Bakti Village, Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Within less than 12 hours of receiving the report, a joint team arrested the suspected shooter for further legal proceedings.
The investigation was carried out after a report regarding the incident that resulted in the death of the victim, identified as SH (18), from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Based on initial investigations, the incident occurred in a house in Block E of Margo Bakti Village, Mesuji District.
At the time of the incident, the victim and another teenager, identified as MCA (18), were in a bedroom. Shortly thereafter, a gunshot was heard, resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries and being rushed to a health facility for medical attention.
"Officers who received the report immediately went to the scene to conduct a crime scene investigation, gather evidence, and interview several witnesses who witnessed the incident," explained OKI Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Eko Rubiyanto, Tuesday (6/2/2026).
Based on the results of the investigation and witness statements, the joint team successfully secured MCA on Monday, June 1, 2026, at around 2:00 PM for further investigation. At the scene, officers secured several pieces of evidence, including a revolver, one cartridge, one projectile, and the clothing the victim was wearing at the time of the incident.
"All evidence has been secured for scientific and forensic purposes," he said.
He added that investigators are currently investigating the complete chronology of the incident, the origin of the firearm used, the legality of ownership of the weapon, and the possibility of other legal violations related to this case.
He emphasized that the swift resolution of this case demonstrates police's commitment to providing legal certainty to the public.
