inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation (ODC) Police Task Force successfully apprehended a man on the Wanted Persons List, YYS alias OS alias K (33), in the Argapura area, Jayapura City, on Tuesday (9/29/2026).

YYS was apprehended at around 3:15 p.m. in the Argapura area, South Jayapura District. Based on the results of the investigation, the man is suspected of being involved as an intermediary in a weapons and ammunition procurement network linked to SP.

The arrest of YYS was the result of an investigation into a weapons and ammunition network in the Jayapura area that began in March 2026.

The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the 2026 ODC, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, explained that YYS was on the Wanted Persons List as part of a series of investigations into a weapons and ammunition network in the Jayapura area that had been handled since March 2026.

"YYS is a repeat offender in a drug case, having previously served seven years and only completed his sentence in early 2026," explained Yusuf on Wednesday (9/30/2026)

He also added that YYS was the result of a follow-up investigation into 13 individuals previously arrested during the period of the incident, which occurred from March until now. These investigations led to YYS's arrest as part of investigators' efforts to uncover the network as a whole.

The 13 suspects are SP, OB, YP, MKM, DK, KO, SM, HM, AKW, NH, HLT, YK, and AG.

"YYS is suspected of being involved as an intermediary in the sale and purchase of weapons and ammunition and is currently being held by the Papua Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate," added Yusuf.

During the case investigation on the illegal weapon procurement, police has seized 298 rounds of ammunition, four long SS1 magazines, one short SS1 magazine, one homemade firearm, six rusty World War II firearm barrels.

"Investigators are still investigating the case. It's possible that other parties were involved, as well as the evidence being linked, based on the results of the investigation," said the Head of the Public Relations Task Force.

YYS is currently at the Papua Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate for further questioning. Investigators are continuing to develop the case to ensure the entire sequence of events and the alleged parties are uncovered based on facts and evidence.
