inp.polri.go.id - Puncak Jaya. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation (ODC) Police Task Force, along with the Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police, arrested a man with the initials KK (33), who was on the Wanted List (DPO) for alleged serious assault and attempted rape against a victim with the initials ZHP.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 8, 2024, on Kandep Road, Muliambut Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province.

Head of the 2026 ODC Public Relations Task Force, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, during an interview on Friday (10/23/2026), explained that KK was arrested on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at approximately 10:10 a.m. at his hiding place in Usir Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency.

The arrest was made after personnel conducted intensive monitoring and investigation to determine his whereabouts.

"From the arrest, we confiscated several pieces of evidence, such as the suspect's personal belongings and a cellphone. KK was then taken to the Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police for further questioning," explained Yusuf.

He added that investigators are currently investigating KK's possible involvement in several other crimes, including alleged theft and the alleged robbery of a motorcycle taxi driver using a machete in Wandegobak Village, Pagaleme District, Puncak Jaya Regency, in 2025.

However, Yusuf stated that all allegations are still under investigation and require further verification. Investigators will thoroughly examine each piece of information based on the facts and evidence obtained.

"We will continue to investigate. We sincerely hope that the people of Puncak Jaya Regency will remain calm and not be easily provoked by unverified news. We will continue to prioritize professional, humane, and just law enforcement, and encourage all elements of society to maintain a safe and conducive Papua. The police, together with the community, maintain security and peace in Papua," added Yusuf.
