inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak. The West Kalimantan Regional Police,successfully apprehended a man with the initials B (48), who was a thug and operating as an illegal parking attendant on Hos Cokroaminoto street, Pontianak, on Thursday (8/14/2025) at around 10:30 a.m.

When confirmed, Senior Superintendent Arief Budiman revealed that the arrest began during a patrol conducted by his officers. The team received a public report regarding thuggery at the location, leading to an investigation of the crime scene.

"After we conducted an interrogation, it turned out that the person in question was indeed operating as a parking attendant, but perhaps using methods more akin to thuggery. After further investigation, we found that the person in question was in possession of a sharp weapon and an iron pipe used in his activities," he said, as reported by RRI, Friday (8/15/2025).

Arief explained that the parking lot actually had no parking fee. However, the perpetrator forced anyone who parked to pay.

He further added that information from Pontianak City Sub-regional Police investigators indicated that B was a repeat offender who had recently been released from prison for theft and assault.

"The perpetrator is not new to the world of crime. This arrest is part of our efforts to maintain public order and security in Pontianak," he emphasized.

The perpetrator has been handed over to the Pontianak City Police for further investigation.
