inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police arrested an armed motorcycle thief in Manggis XVIII Ujung Alley, North Tanjung Duren, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The theft was captured on CCTV, and the video went viral on social media.

"The information is correct. We have arrested two suspected perpetrators of a motor vehicle theft gang that went viral in the Grogol Petamburan jurisdiction," explained the Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, on Tuesday (2/24/2026).

The arrests were made on Otonom Cikupa Main Road, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Monday (2/23/2026) at approximately 9:30 a.m.. The two suspects arrested were identified as ANJ (18) and another person who is still a minor.

In addition to arresting the perpetrator, investigators confiscated evidence including a Honda Beat Street motorcycle, two mobile phones belonging to the perpetrator, three T-shaped wrenches, a T-shaped handle, a homemade firearm complete with five rounds of ammunition, CCTV footage, and the clothing worn during the crime. The other two perpetrators are still being pursued and have been listed as wanted persons.

"We have listed the perpetrators as wanted persons," he said.

Budi emphasized that this disclosure demonstrates the police's seriousness in eradicating street crime that disturbs the public.

Both perpetrators have been detained and charged under Article 477 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft and Article 306 of the Criminal Code concerning misuse of firearms.
