inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho instructed his staff to oversee public movement during the peak of the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow.
This step was taken following the direction of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to ensure the smooth flow of the homecoming flow while maintaining public order and security in crowded areas.
In his remarks, Sandi explained that the key to successfully securing this year's homecoming flow is flexibility in the field.
He has also prepared various schemes, ranging from one-way traffic, contraflow, to lane opening and closing systems, which will be implemented situationally.
"We are not rigidly sticking to one scheme. Traffic engineering is implemented flexibly according to the situation on the road, which is monitored in real time. Our personnel remain on standby on strategic routes until the entire return flow is complete," explained Sandi on Tuesday (3/24/2026).
In addition to focusing on the roads, he said, the South Sumatra Regional Police are also strengthening security at various tourist attractions that will remain crowded with visitors during the remainder of the Eid holiday. According to him, safety education, especially at water attractions and high-risk areas, is a priority to prevent unwanted incidents.
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, added that the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy, which is in effect from March 25 to 27, 2026, is an important tool for breaking up crowds.
"We urge the public to take advantage of this WFA policy. Don't force trips on the same day to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Plan your travel time wisely for everyone's comfort," said Nandang.
He said that so far, the return flow of people in South Sumatra has been monitored as safe and under control. The South Sumatra Regional Police have ensured that all main routes and vital objects remain under strict surveillance to ensure people return to their destinations safely.
