Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Tangerang City Sub-regional Police have uncovered an inter-provincial drug smuggling network that hid 35 packages of marijuana inside the frame of a Vespa motorcycle.

“This case was revealed after the Panongan Police Office arrested a 19-year-old suspect identified as J at his rented house in Rancaiu Village, Tangerang Regency,” said Tangerang Police Chief Senior Superintendent Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada on Thursday (6/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Police later arrested three suspects, identified as LK (24), a laborer; AH (44), a civil servant with the Tangerang administration; and IT (42), believed to be the mastermind controlling the smuggling operation. 

Investigators traced the marijuana’s origin to Bogor, West Java, and found that suspect IT had shipped 35 large packages to Bali using a logistics company. The drugs were hidden inside the Vespa’s body frame, disguised as a vehicle shipment.

All suspects face charges under the Narcotics Law, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
