Inp.polri.go.id - Ende Island.  On Ende Island, East Nusa Tenggara, Ende Police Office Chief Second Inspector Heru Sutaban is recognized not only for his official duties but also for his close ties with the community.

Despite the challenges of serving in an island district, he regularly joins residents on wooden boats, rides his old bicycle, and patrols village roads to stay connected with the people.

Beyond policing, Chief Heru leads Friday prayers as imam, teaches children to recite the Quran, and provides traffic safety education in a humanistic way. His approach has made him a trusted figure, seen as a friend, teacher, and family member by locals.

East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra, praised his dedication.

“Chief Heru shows that being a police officer means serving, protecting, and guiding society with sincerity,” he said.

His example highlights how genuine service builds trust and strengthens community-police relations
