inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Agency has uncovered an unusual narcotics distribution operation.

A package containing candy sent from England to Indonesia was found to contain the Class I narcotic delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

In uncovering the case, police arrested a man with the initials AJE (30), who is suspected of ordering the narcotics.

The Director of Narcotics Crime of INP, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said the case began with information from Pasar Baru Customs regarding a suspicious package sent from England to Indonesia via PT Pos Indonesia.

The package was registered as being sent to a recipient named Sally Hartanto in Malang City, East Java.

During an inspection, officers found three packages bearing the AI ​​brand, each containing 10 candies.

"After laboratory testing by Customs and Excise, it was discovered that the candy contained a Class I narcotic, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol," said Eko Hadi Santoso (8/26/2026).

Investigators then conducted a search in Malang City. On Monday (8/24/2026), officers arrested AJE at around 2:00 PM after he received the package from the courier.

From the investigation, AJE admitted that the package sent from England was his order.

"The results of the interrogation confirmed that the package sent from England to Indonesia, with the recipient name Sally Hartanto, containing candy containing narcotics, belonged to AJE, ordered through a website," he said.

Furthermore, AJE also admitted to having ordered items suspected of containing narcotics from abroad several times for his own consumption.

The items included candy suspected of containing THC, chocolate suspected of containing THC, and liquid suspected of containing THC, which were recovered in this case.

Eko stated that all packages were sent using the same recipient's name.

During the investigation, investigators confiscated three packages of THC-containing candy, 12 chocolates suspected of containing THC, a cell phone, and a laptop.

The total seized evidence weighed 231 grams, with an estimated economic value of IDR 693 million.

Investigators are currently conducting further examination of AJE and conducting laboratory tests on all the seized evidence.
