Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A joint team of the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Indonesian Military (TNI) evacuated two bodies of gold miners killed by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Yahukimo, Papua.
The victims were flown to Dekai Regional Hospital on April 10 for identification through a Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) process.
The Head of the INP’s Bhayangkara Hospital Jayapura, Dr. Rommy Sebastian, said on Friday (11/4/2025) that the identification includes fingerprinting, dental checks, and personal effects analysis.
“We are conducting the DVI process carefully to ensure accurate identification before handing over the remains to families,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
Both victims were adult males, found in distinct clothing that helped aid identification efforts.
Meanwhile, another body has been moved to Boven Digoel, and five more remain in Binki due to poor weather.
In a related update, a local village head, Dani, and his wife Geby—previously held hostage by KKB—have been rescued and are receiving medical checks in Dekai. Security forces remain deployed in the area as pursuit of the perpetrators continues.
