inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Ende Sub-regional Police managed to secure a suspect with the initials FWW (29 years old) for a human trafficking case. The suspect is suspected of luring the three victims, namely EAL (20), AG (24), and SRS (20), through messages on the social media Facebook.
Head of Public Relations of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ariasandy, confirmed the information.
"The modus operandi carried out by the suspect FWW was to recruit his victims via Facebook messages using the account ‘FIAN WOGHA’. In April 2024, FWW contacted his victim, EAL, after posting the need of job at a Facebook group," said Ariasandy when confirmed on Saturday, (11/16/2024)
FWW is said to offer a job as a Household Assistant (ART) in various big cities such as Jakarta, Pekanbaru, Batam, Jambi, and Medan with a fairly tempting salary, namely between IDR 1,800,000 to IDR 3,500,000, to EAL.
After further communication, EAL invited her fiance, AG, to join her. They agreed to leave on May 10th, 2024. Suspect FWW then picked up the two at their boarding house in Ende and together they rode in a travel car on the Ende-Bajawa route.
On the way, they met another victim, SRS, who was also recruited by FWW to work in Jakarta. However, on the way to Bajawa, SRS decided to get off after receiving a call from her family forbidding her from continuing the trip.
The journey continued until the travel car was stopped by members of the Nangapanda Sector Police in Nangapanda District, and the suspect FWW along with victims EAL and AG were taken to the Ende Sub-regional Police for further investigation.
From the three, police managed to confiscate several pieces of evidence, including 1 Samsung A12 cellphone, a membership card of PT. Pelita Dwi Karya in the name of FWW, 3 sheets of PT. Pelita Dwi Karya business licenses, and cash amounting to IDR 500,000.
Currently, the investigation has been completed and the case files are ready to be submitted to the Public Prosecutor.
The suspect FWW was charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) and/or Article 10 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Human Trafficking, with the threat of imprisonment between 3 to 15 years and a fine of at least IDR 120 million and a maximum of IDR 600 million.
