inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. Personnel from the Terminal 3 Sub-Sector Police of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police handled a conflict at the Cathay Pacific check-in counter on Monday evening (6/15/2026).
The incident was first reported by Cathay Pacific Aviation Security (Avsec) officers at around 8:30 PM Western Indonesian Time.
Personnel, along with Avsec officers, immediately arrived at the scene to secure the situation and prevent further disruption to passenger services at the terminal.
After the situation was brought under control, several foreign nationals involved in the dispute were taken to the Terminal 3 Sub-Sector Police Headquarters for further questioning.
Personnel provided a Mandarin translator to assist with communication between officers and the parties involved. Based on mediation and dialogue, it was discovered that the disturbance was sparked by a misunderstanding related to an issue that allegedly occurred in their home countries several years prior.
The authority explained that persuasive approaches and mediation were the primary steps taken to resolve the issue without disrupting order in the airport area.
"After clarification and mediation with the assistance of a translator, the parties understood the nature of the problem and agreed to resolve it amicably without pursuing legal proceedings," said Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Wisnu Wardana, Tuesday (6/16/2026).
Thanks to the swift response of police personnel and Avsec officers, the situation was quickly brought under control, allowing passenger services to continue operating normally and conducively.
Police urged all passengers at the airport to maintain order and immediately report any potential security disturbances to officers.
"The entire process proceeded safely, orderly, and conducively until the parties left the premises," he explained.
