Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. East Aceh Sub-Regional Police has named three Rohingya immigrants, namely Sajul Islam (41), the captain; Rubis Ahmad (42), the assistant captain; and M. Amin (42), the engine operator, as suspects in a human trafficking crimes (TPPO) case on Friday (22/12/23).
Police Superintendent Andy Rahmansyah, Chief of East Aceh Sub-Regional Police, disclosed that these individuals were part of a group of 50 Rohingya immigrants who landed in Seuneubok Baroh Village, Darul Aman District, East Aceh Regency, on Thursday (21/12/23).
He explained, "They are suspected to have previously worked in Malaysia, returned to their country, and then joined the Rohingya immigrant group that landed on Thursday."
Investigators confiscated a mobile phone from the suspects, while other evidence, such as a satellite phone and GPS, were thrown into the sea by the suspects, he added.
"They are charged with violating immigration laws jo Article 55 jo Article 56 of Criminal Code, facing a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 years in prison," he concluded.
