inp.polri.go.id - South Sumatra. The South Sumatra Regional Police, along with the Ogan Ilir Sub-regional Police, took action against a suspected drug abuse and transaction site in Sekonjing Village, Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency.

In an operation led by the Director of Narcotics Investigation at the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Patar M.H. Silalahi, officers apprehended two individuals who tested positive for methamphetamine and confiscated several pieces of evidence, including methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, as well as equipment suspected of being used for drug abuse.

The joint operation targeted several huts or shacks based on field information and community concerns regarding suspected drug activity in the area. Before moving to the location, joint personnel conducted a preparatory roll call to ensure personnel readiness and ensure the smooth implementation of the operation.

During the operation, officers apprehended AS (29), a laborer residing in East Tanjung Raja District, and AY (49), a resident of Tanjung Agas Village. Both underwent urine tests on the spot, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Officers also confiscated two packages of methamphetamine, 10 ecstasy pills, 12 bongs, two digital scales, four clear plastic bags, four sharp weapons, cash, several identity cards, bank account information, and wallets.

In addition to securing the suspects and the evidence, officers dismantled several illegal huts suspected of being used to facilitate drug trafficking. Police cordoned off the area to support further investigation.

Police still need to investigate the ownership of the evidence, the roles of the two individuals arrested, and the possible involvement of other parties. A positive urine test result for methamphetamine is one of the findings of an investigation, but it does not in itself prove a person's involvement in drug trafficking.

South Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, emphasized the police's commitment to eradicating drug crimes. He also urged the public to play an active role in maintaining public order and security.

"We will take firm action against all forms of drug crimes in accordance with applicable laws. We also urge the public to continue working with the police and immediately report any suspicious activity suspected of being related to drug abuse or illicit trafficking," said Nandang.
