inp.polri.go.id - As one of the causes of traffic jams on the alternative route to Puncak, the Bogor Police began testing large vehicle restrictions in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (1/5).
The police and the Bogor Regency Government have restricted large vehicles by placing signs at every intersection leading to alternative routes.
"Because the regulations haven't been drafted and haven't been issued, so this policy is still a trial run," explained Head of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit, AKP. Dicky Pranata, Monday (2/5/2022).
Head of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit said, since some time ago, they have been working on regulations related to restrictions on large vehicles on alternative routes to Puncak. Because, the large vehicle is considered too imposing and not in accordance with the specifications of the road.
"Yes, if large vehicles are in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation, they are already prohibited from operating on the Puncak Road. Except for exempt vehicles such as transporting groceries and fuel," he said.
Kasatlantas Polres Bogor said that congestion on alternative routes around Puncak was caused by buses and trucks, which were almost has the same size as the road.
Kasatlantas Polres Bogor proposed the creation of a special parking location for large vehicles who wants to go to the tourist area on the alternative route to Puncak. Then, provide special transportation for people from that parking locations to tourist attractions.
"For the construction of the parking location, we have our eyes on seven locations, namely the Cilember rest area, Matahari Tourism Park, the Nyiur Valley rest area, then the Anggraeni rest area, the Sinbad rest area, then the Evergreen Hotel and Gunung Mas," he added.
