inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has begun strengthening environmental awareness through the Green Policing program. Led by Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief, Commissioner General Dadang Hartanto, the program began with improvements to the police department's internal environment before expanding through collaboration with local governments and the community.
The program is part of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief's 100-Day Priority Program. Its implementation focuses not only on environmental cleanliness but also includes waste management, reforestation, and efforts to reduce flood risk.
Dadang emphasized that environmental awareness must begin with personnel discipline in the workplace.
"I want to emphasize that Green Policing must begin within our internal environment first. Once its running well, then we can invite the community to participate in similar activities," said Dadang.
As an initial step, Dadang directed the implementation of a cleanliness competition between work units, covering the command headquarters, offices, and even toilets. Each work unit is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that waste does not accumulate.
In addition to maintaining cleanliness, the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police also encourages more orderly waste management by sorting plastic, organic, and hazardous and toxic waste according to their characteristics.
Dadang also directed the use of biopores for organic waste management while still adhering to technical regulations. Personnel are also asked to get used to disposing of trash and cigarette butts in the designated receptacles.
"Special smoking areas need to be provided to reduce smoke exposure to others," said Dadang.
The series of Green Policing activities included community service activities to clean the environment and plant 25 trees on the HQ field.
This activity is part of the greening effort and fosters environmental awareness among personnel.
