inp.polri.go.id - Rokan Hilir. A joint team from the Rokan Hilir Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Sinaboi Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit uncovered suspected forestry crimes in the Sinaboi District.
During the operation, police seized 483 pieces of processed wood of various types and sizes, weighing approximately 10 tons. Several people were also detained for questioning.
Rokan Hilir Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Aldi Alfa Faroqi, stated that the operation took place on the Sinaboi-Dumai Crossroad, Darusalam Village, Sinaboi District.
"This case came to light after we received information about the unloading of wood from a ditch to a timber yard on the Sinaboi-Dumai Crossroad, Darusalam Village, Sinaboi District," Aldi said on Friday (9/25/2026).
Upon arrival at the location, officers found several people moving processed wood, including planks and wood chips, from the canal to the yard. After an inspection, it was discovered that the wood lacked official documentation.
"The wood belonged to a man with the initials IW. He admitted to obtaining it from residents in the Dumai area," Aldi explained.
The police then detained IW along with two workers for further questioning. Investigators have conducted a case review and named a suspect.

The investigation is still ongoing to uncover the origin of the wood, the supplier, and the distribution channels. The police will also coordinate with relevant agencies to further investigate the alleged forestry crime.
"We are not stopping at the wood found at the location. We will investigate the origin and distribution chain to identify the parties involved," he said.
Aldi emphasized that taking action against alleged illegal logging practices is part of the police's efforts to preserve forests and prevent the illegal exploitation of natural resources.
"The case will be handled professionally based on the evidence found. Our commitment is clear: any activity that damages the forest and complies with legal provisions will be prosecuted," he emphasized.
