Police Uncovers Minimarket Robbery Syndicate, Two Left Are on the Run

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Tangerang Sub-regional Police have uncovered the minimarket robbery syndicate which has operated in 23 different locations in December 2023. The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Chief of Tangerang Sub-regional Police, Police Commissioner Arief Nazarudin Yusuf, states that in uncovering the case his party has arrested six suspects with the initials of A, H, T, and HS. Meanwhile, other two suspects initialed I and S are still on pursuit. “We have ensured the suspects who have been arrested is the group who are responsible for the robbery. Thus, on Saturday (12/23/2023) we dispatch our team to arrest them,” says Arief quoted from Antaranews on Tuesday (12/26/2023). Arief then explains that in operating their criminal action, the minimarket/shophouse robbery syndicate robs the various store simultaneously. The Police Commissioner adds that the syndicate also operates in the early morning around 03.00 am. “From their criminal action, we assessed that they are an organized crime as they carried out their criminal action systematically. They have scout and mapped the area prior their action,” explained Arief. After the police sniffed out their criminal operation, investigator then able to identify two suspects with the initial of A and H. The two reportedly acts as the scout. From the identification of the two scouts, police then dispatch their investigators to scour around the area of Pedongkelan Kapuk in West Jakarta and able to arrest another two suspects with the initials of T and HS. “The examination results of the four suspects yields that they chose the minimarkets randomly to snatch foods, gas cylinders, money and other valuables,” said Arief. The 23 locations robbed by the syndicate spread across Greater Jakarta area including in South Tangerang, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency and Depok, Bogor, also Jakarta. The criminal suspects will be charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code and could be sentenced to maximum penalty of seven years in prison. “Currently, we are pursuing the other two suspects. From them and evidence secure, we also know that they sold the stolen items so that they could bought drugs and also bong,” said Arief before closing the session. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
