Inp.polri.go.id - Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed Indonesia’s role as a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific during President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to the Elysee Palace on Thursday (28/5/2026).

He emphasized France’s commitment to strengthening ties across defense, economy, and culture.

“Indonesia is a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific, and I believe this is also President Prabowo’s conviction,” President Macron said in a joint statement, according to the Presidential Secretariat as quoted by antaranews.com.

He highlighted the arrival of the first Rafale fighter jet in Indonesia as proof of deepening defense cooperation.

President Macron also urged progress on the Indonesia–EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to boost trade and investment in sectors including energy, health, and transport. He welcomed Indonesia’s market opening for French livestock and noted planned investments by Danantara.

Both leaders pledged to expand collaboration in education, culture, and science, while discussing global issues from the Middle East to the South China Sea. President Macron praised Indonesia’s active role in promoting peace and dialogue internationally.
